Awards
The POAC International Committee provides two different awards:
POAC Founders Lifetime Achievement Award
At each POAC Conference, the President of the POAC International Committee will present a POAC Founders Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize an individual who has both worked to promote the quality of the International POAC conference over a number of years, and made significant advances to understand the effects of ice on activities in ice-covered waters.
POAC Best Student Paper Award
An award to recognize excellence in a student paper will be presented at the conference. The recipient must be a full-time student at the time of the paper submission, must be the first author and primary contributor to the paper, and must present the paper at the conference. The student papers will be judged by selected members of the POAC International Committee. The basis for the award will be originality of the research, clarity (in both the written paper and the presentation), and the potential impact on theoretical and practical applications. The award, comprised of a certificate and a $1000 USD cheque, will be presented at the conference banquet. The name and photo of the award winner will also be posted on the POAC.com website. The Best Student Paper Award is supported by Statoil.
