Call for Abstracts

Authors are invited to submit an abstract in English to be considered for an oral presentation at the Conference. The deadline for submission of abstracts is October 1, 2010. Authors are asked to submit abstracts using the on-line abstract submission link at the bottom of this page.

Instructions for Submission of Abstracts

Abstracts may be submitted via Internet only. There is no paper form to complete or mail. Faxed and mailed submissions will not be considered. Only abstracts submitted in the correct format, as outlined below, will be considered.

When preparing to submit their abstract, authors should have on hand the complete contact information for the Presenting author (ideally, the Corresponding author should be the Presenting author).

Before submitting an abstract, please carefully review the following abstract submission guidelines.

  1. Abstracts must conform to the following outline (see template):

    • Abstract Title (as it will appear in the Final Programme, Book of Abstracts and Proceedings)
    • Authors and Institutions
    • Abstract body
  2. The abstract body is limited to 300 words. A template is available and must be saved and filled out for abstract submission. Please submit text only. Do not include References, tables, figures, pictures or any other graphics. Special characters and formatting are not compatible with the on-line submission process. Please replace Greek letters by the actual word e.g. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc. Abstracts must be submitted in MS Word (PC) format ONLY.
  3. While submitting your abstract, please indicate in the appropriate section if you would like your paper to be considered for the Best Student Paper Award.
  4. All fields on the on-line abstract submission form must be completed. Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.
  5. Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a notified submission error. If you do not receive a confirmation email with a receipt number that your abstract was successfully uploaded, please contact the Conference Secretariat Office.
  6. Submitting authors are asked to select the most appropriate technical topics from the following list:

    5. Operational Experience: Lessons Learned from the Caspian, Sakhalin, Alaska and Grand Banks Regions

    7. EER for Ice-Covered Waters
    8. Moored Structures in Ice-Covered Waters
    9. Ice Forecasting
    10. Remote Sensing in Ice
    11. Ports in Cold Climates
    12. Innovations in Navigation and Shipping in Ice-covered Waters
    13. Harmonizing International Shipping Regulations
    14. Mechanics of Scour and Pipeline Protection
    15. Offshore Oil & Gas Development in the Beaufort Sea
    16. Offshore Oil & Gas Development in the Barents Sea

Abstract Review

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee. Notice of acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author by email on November 15, 2010. In addition, a list of accepted Abstracts will be posted on the POAC'11 website. Abstracts will be accepted or rejected at the discretion of the Scientific Program Committee.

Note to Authors

Accepted abstracts will be published in the book of abstracts with Proceedings on USB memory stick.

Submission of an abstract constitutes the commitment of at least one author to register for the Conference and do a presentation.

Abstract Submission Process



Agreement/Disclaimer
In submitting an abstract, you certify that the abstract is an original contribution and give permission to the Conference Organizers to publish it in the book of abstracts with Proceedings on USB memory stick.

Abstracts are to be submitted via the Conference Website (only electronic submissions will be accepted for preview).

Your abstract will be published as submitted. The organizers do not accept any responsibility regarding the accuracy of the abstracts.

The organizers reserve the right to reject any abstract at their sole discretion. If your abstract is accepted, a manuscript will have to be submitted by no later than February 15, 2011 and notice of Paper acceptance will be sent on March 31, 2011. The final paper will be required for the proceedings by April 29, 2011.
